Family Camp 2019 – Registration Opens March 15th
Since 1989 The Epilepsy Center has been hosting a camp for families and individuals impacted by epilepsy. Family Camp takes place over three days in the summer and is full of activities and educational seminars. Held at Camp Frontier in Pioneer, Ohio, campers celebrate the camp-assigned “theme” during the weekend through crafts and other activities.
The camp opens on a Friday evening with a meet and greet around the camp fire. Yummy s’mores are served along with some other goodies provided by the scouts. Saturday is a busy day with educational seminars for the adults and parents. While the adults are occupied, the kids take advantage of all camp has to offer like wall climbing, fishing, archery and boating. In the afternoon, it’s swimming for all. The evening concludes with a trip to the ‘cantina’ amphitheater where everyone dances, enjoys root beer floats, of course, a camp fire.
We are so grateful to the Boy Scouts who are instrumental in making Family Camp a success each year. Their beautiful Camp Frontier in Pioneer, Ohio is ideal for a fun-filled weekend!
Camp is held the second weekend of August, and thanks to our wonderful sponsors and supporters, there is no cost to attend. Even if you can’t come for the entire weekend, please register and let us know how long you can stay. Guests stay in a cabin environment and share the amenities. Sleeping accommodations are only available for up to 100 people. After that number has been reached, we offer a ‘Saturday Only’ registration option where you can still enjoy the majority of what Camp offers, you just won’t be able to sleep over. There is no dinner offered Friday night but three meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday is provided. If you have dietary concerns, let us know!
Family Camp is a great opportunity to meet other people living with epilepsy. Come relax with people who truly understand what you go through every day. Parents/guardians are required to be present with children under the age of 18, but the camp if not exclusively for children—anyone living with epilepsy is welcome to participate.
Space is limited too 100 individuals in the cabins but if you have a camper, RV or tent, we’ll always have plenty of room for you.
